San Rocco #4/ Summer 2012

San Rocco is not your ordinary architecture magazine. Created by an editorial board based in Venice, Italy, the triannual magazine follows a five-year plan of themes the editors would like to investigate in the next couple of years, such as “Scary Architects,” “Demolition” or “Houses for Billionaires.” The untraditional system of “calling for papers” that foregoes every issue brings contributions from architects all over the world. Issue four goes under the name of “Fuck Concepts! Contexts!”, and is just as self-confident as the label says, with essays on anything from Richard Meier’s Getty Center to Piazza del Popolo in Rome. In the midst of theory, San Rocco still manages to stay highly visual and, as cheeky as their motto says: neither serious nor friendly.
